Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Project Engineering, Manufacturing Program Support, or Defense/Aerospace Manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, drawings/specifications, and production planning/execution.
• Ability to own broad project responsibilities, lead technical discussions, and communicate across functions; ability to obtain/maintain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: act as the technical lead for assigned programs, review drawings/specs, assess manufacturability, and mitigate risks.
• Program Execution: coordinate engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to drive milestones and deliverables.
• Customer & Contract Management: participate in customer meetings, review SOWs and contract requirements, close action items.
• Financial & Business Support: assist with cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts, and support PBP and capital investments.

Job Description Position Overview Teledyne Brown Engineering is seeking a Project Engineer to support and lead the execution of complex defense manufacturing programs. This position is designed for engineers who are interested in expanding beyond traditional technical responsibilities into broader program leadership roles. The successful candidate will serve as the technical focal point for assigned programs while collaborating closely with Manufacturing Leadership, Engineering, Supply Chain, and customers to ensure successful program execution. The role requires a strong engineering background combined with the ability to participate in customer interactions, evaluate contractual requirements, influence schedule decisions, support financial planning, and drive overall program performance.

About Our Manufacturing Environment The selected candidate will support programs executed within TBE's precision manufacturing operations, including: High-mix, low-to-medium rate production supporting defense and aerospace systems Advanced CNC machining, fabrication, assembly, and integration operations Complex tooling and fixturing development Welding, precision assembly, inspection, and special process operations Prototype, low-rate initial production, and production ramp activities Programs require coordination across: Manufacturing Supply Chain Quality Assurance Contracts Customer Program Offices Success requires understanding both the technical and business aspects of manufacturing program execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership Serve as the technical lead for assigned manufacturing and development programs. Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements to ensure manufacturability and execution readiness. Evaluate technical risks and develop mitigation plans. Support production readiness reviews, and customer technical discussions.
• Program Execution Support execution of active projects through all phases of the program lifecycle. Coordinate engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain activities to drive program execution. Track milestones, deliverables, risks, and action items. Support preparation of internal program reviews and executive briefings.
• Customer & Contract Management Participate in customer meetings, program reviews, and internal status updates. Serve as a technical representative to customers on assigned projects. Review Statements of Work (SOW), specifications, contract requirements, and contract modifications. Coordinate customer action items and ensure timely closure.
• Financial & Business Support Support development of cost estimates, project budgets, and financial forecasts. Monitor program performance relative to plan. Assist with Progress-Based Payments (PBP), and financial reporting activities. Evaluate technical and schedule impacts associated with scope changes. Support business case development for capital equipment, tooling, and manufacturing investments.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering discipline
• 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following: Manufacturing Engineering Project Engineering Manufacturing Program Support Defense/Aerospace Manufacturing
• Strong understanding of: Manufacturing processes and workflows Engineering drawings and specifications Production planning and execution
• Ability to: Own and manage broad project responsibilities. Lead technical discussions with customers and internal stakeholders Communicate effectively across engineering and business functions Obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs.
• Familiarity with: Contract structures and Statements of Work (SOW) CDRLs and program deliverables Risk management processes Production ramp and manufacturing capacity expansion efforts.
• Working knowledge of: Program planning and scheduling Cost estimating and financial tracking Experience working in and around a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
