Job summary

FlatironDragados is seeking a Project Engineer to help track costs, monitor resources, and support project controls on the Susquehanna River Rail Bridge mega project in Maryland. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 7+ years construction engineering experience.
  • Experience with resource monitoring techniques (cost accounting, basic estimating).
  • Specialized knowledge of design-build or other alternative build techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with engineering and field crews to review production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources.
  • Review all shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data.
  • Provide technical input for project work plan and scheduling.
  • Identify risk elements that could impact budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to track project performance.
  • Update project schedule weekly for owner and management reporting.
  • Prepare and manage a three-week work plan and notify of significant schedule changes.
  • Initiate and manage RFIs.
  • Remit accurate project quantities using cost coding for reporting.
  • Manage invoicing with accounting for materials, equipment and subcontractors.
  • Review certificates and permits needed to perform work.
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews.

Overview

Ready to drive financial accuracy and project success? As a Project Engineer, you'll help track and analyze costs, monitor resources, and support project controls efforts to keep our work on schedule and on budget. By combining technical knowledge with hands-on construction experience, you'll play a key role in the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects. This position will support our Susquehanna River Rail Bridge project, a $1.7B mega project in Maryland. A Joint Venture between FlatironDragados and Herzog is set to replace the 3/4-mile-long, 117-year-old, two-track movable Susquehanna River Rail Bridge connecting Perryville and Havre de Grace.

What you will be doing
  • Meet with engineering and field crews to review production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources.
  • Review all shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data.
  • Provides technical input for project work plan and scheduling.
  • Identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance.
  • Update project schedule weekly for owner and management reporting.
  • Prepare and manage a three-week work plan. Notifies engineering and project management of any significant schedule changes and develops solutions to mitigate delays and cost.
  • Initiate and manage all Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Remit accurate project quantities using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported.
  • Manage invoicing with accounting team regarding materials, equipment and subcontractor needs.
  • Review certificates and permits needed to perform work.
  • Review required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliance work environment for all construction personnel.
  • Coordinates subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as needed.
What we are looking for
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 7+ years construction engineering experience.
  • Experience in resource monitoring techniques (i.e. cost accounting, basic estimating) and construction technology, process systems and/or structures preferred.
  • Specialized, technical knowledge of design build or other alternative build techniques.
  • Able to delegate and assign work to engineering team to progress the project production forward.
  • Advanced knowledge of contract specifications and quality assurance practices.
  • Able to identify budget and project costs and recommend options to mitigate project delays.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting methods, quantity tracking methods and cost coding.
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management preferred.
