Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Project Engineer - Civil Construction in Elgin, IL to support PMs through all phases of construction, from preconstruction to closeout. The role requires 1–3 years in a related field and a Bachelor's in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.

You will coordinate with subcontractors, architects, and vendors, help with scheduling, cost tracking, and field QA, and use Procore or Viewpoint.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in construction project engineering or related role.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering or related field.
• Familiarity with Procore, Viewpoint or similar PM software.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Clear written and verbal communication; able to work across field and office.
• OSHA 10 preferred; OSHA 30 a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers throughout all phases of construction — from preconstruction and project startup through closeout
• Manage and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation to ensure timely resolution and accurate record‑keeping
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and engineers to keep projects moving on schedule and within budget
• Assist with scheduling, cost tracking, and budget reporting using project management software
• Attend and document owner, architect, and subcontractor meetings; distribute meeting minutes and follow up on action items
• Conduct field observations and assist the superintendent with quality control, inspections, and site documentation
• Support estimating and bidding efforts on new project pursuits as needed

What We're Looking For

• 1–3 years of experience in a construction project engineering or related role; internship experience in construction will be considered
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred
• Familiarity with construction project management software (Procore, Viewpoint, or similar)
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
• Clear written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working across field and office environments
• A team-first mindset with a genuine interest in growing within the construction industry
• OSHA 10 certification preferred; willingness to obtain OSHA 30 a plus
