Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer at our East Chicago, Indiana facility within the Engineering Department. You will lead capital and maintenance projects from inception through start-up, coordinating with operations, maintenance and suppliers to meet schedule and budget targets.

Responsibilities include safety planning, design coordination, and providing technical guidance for production equipment and facilities, working with cross-functional teams to justify project benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• 3+ years of technical engineering experience in heavy manufacturing.
• Background in project management, planning, scope and cost development.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple capital projects and maintenance projects on schedule and within budget.
• Develop capital appropriation requests and review design drawings.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance and suppliers; ensure safety planning and compliance.
• Provide technical advice and support for plant operations and equipment improvements.

Location: East Chicago, INCleveland-Cliffs is seeking a Project Engineer within our Engineering Department at our East Chicago, Indiana facility. As a Project Engineer at Indiana Harbor, you will be responsible for developing and implementing Capital projects from inception, design engineering, procurement, construction and start-up in all areas of the facility.Summary of Responsibilities:Lead multiple capital projects, maintenance projects and/or facility rehabilitations on schedule and within budget by preparing capitol appropriations requests, establishing and reviewing schedule, and reviewing and approving design drawingsEnsure project safety planning and complianceAssist plant operations and maintenance departments with technical issues related to the production process, equipment, buildings, and facilities within the plantParticipate in cross-functional teams in the implementation of major capital improvementsCollaborate with various stakeholders to define and quantify the project benefits and/or justificationDevelop technical specifications for procurement of major equipment and materials from various suppliers, and for competitive bidding of construction packages by qualified contractorsCoordinate shop inspections during equipment manufacturing and/or factory acceptance tests, as necessaryProvide technical advice, calculations, inspections, failure investigations, evaluations or other assistance as required by plant operations, maintenance or other departments, to solve specific problems or for the general improvement of plant equipment and facilitiesOther duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in EngineeringThree (3) years of technical related engineering experience in a heavy manufacturing environmentBackground in project management and planning including project scope and cost development, equipment design, procurement, construction management, and start-upExperience with AutoCADPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Structural EngineeringExperience in development and implementation of Major Capital Projects in the steel industryExperience with production facilities and equipment design, troubleshooting and problem resolution, operations and maintenance requirements in heavy industryRelocation assistance is not provided for this position.Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is the largest flat-rolled steel company and the largest iron ore pellet producer in North America.
