Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Project Engineer in the Project Engineering department at the Coshocton Works facility. You will manage engineering projects from design and procurement through installation and start-up of new or modified equipment and facilities, working with operations, maintenance, contractors, and vendors to meet safety, schedule, and budget goals.

You will index drawings, maintain project files, and support continuous improvement across plant operations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field.
  • Three (3) years of technical related engineering experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to coordinate and execute multiple projects within the allotted time and budget.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills in office software, AutoCad and Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with staff and support personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering projects from design and procurement through installation and start‑up of new or modified equipment and facilities.
  • Provide engineering assistance to Operations and Maintenance departments.
  • Coordinate facility infrastructure program to meet corporate standards and policies.
  • Supervise outside engineering firms, fabricators, suppliers, vendors, and labor contractors for timely, safe project completion.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with safety regulations including on-site training and permits.
  • Read, understand, and modify blueprints/schematics and maintain project files.

Job description

Location: Coshocton, OH

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Project Engineer within our Project Engineering department at our Coshocton Works facility. This role is responsible for managing engineering projects from design and procurement through installation and start-up of new or modified equipment and facilities. The Project Engineer works closely with operations, maintenance, contractors, and external vendors to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget, while providing technical support, maintaining infrastructure standards, and driving continuous improvement across plant operations.

Summary of Responsibilities
  • Responsible for engineering projects including specifications for design, procurement, installation, and start-up of new or modified equipment and facilities as assigned.
  • Responsible for providing engineering assistance to the plant’s Operations and Maintenance departments.
  • Assist in coordinating and managing the facility’s local infrastructure program to meet the company’s corporate Infrastructure standards and policies.
  • Accurate and timely project completion through effective supervision of outside engineering firms, fabricators, suppliers, vendors, and labor contractors.
  • Assure contractor compliance with all safety regulations including on-site training, daily orientations, hot work permits and confined space permits.
  • Ability to read and understand blue prints and schematics along with the ability to modify drawings utilizing computer-aided equipment and conventional drafting techniques.
  • Responsible for indexing drawings and revisions along with maintaining equipment and project files.
  • Maintain a high awareness of all governmental safety regulations as well as plant policies to ensure that equipment design, operation, and installation is in conformance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field.
  • Three (3) years of technical related engineering experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to coordinate and execute a multitude of projects with minimal supervision within the allotted time and budget.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills in office software applications, AutoCad and Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with staff and support personnel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge in hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC preferred.
  • Knowledge of furnace combustion, boilers, and fire safety systems preferred.
  • Experience in development and implementation of Major Capital Projects in the steel industry.
  • Project Management Certification a plus and/or encouraged to be obtained.
