Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking a Project Engineer to support our Mining and Pelletizing Operations in Michigan and Minnesota. The role provides leadership and input for capital project execution, coordinating with site teams and outside engineering firms to ensure timely, within-budget delivery.

You will assemble estimates and schedules, track spending, and help forecast capital needs, with responsibility for safety and regulatory compliance as part of project management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles project estimates and schedules ranging from Project Scoping to Project Execution Phases.
  • Prepares outside engineering scopes of work and bid documents.
  • Provides oversight of contracted engineering work performed by outside firms.
  • Manages outside engineering schedules and costs. Ensures quality deliverables.
  • Works closely with Mining and Pelletizing sites to incorporate input and priorities into project definition, ensuring effective project execution and meeting project objectives.
  • Works closely with Environmental Department and contracted Environmental firms to define and manage permit-to-operate issues associated with projects.
  • Provides construction oversight including contractor management when required for Mining Technology executed capital projects.
  • Actively tracks project spending. Assists Director with capital spending forecasts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in mineral or industrial processing facility preferred.
