Job summary

System One seeks a Commercial Construction Project Engineer to join the Denver metro team. The role targets early-career professionals with 0–3 years of construction experience and a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related fields.

The Project Engineer will support PMs and Superintendents in coordinating documentation, subcontractors, materials, schedules, and communications. Ideal candidates will have hands-on construction experience and the ability to read construction

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of construction experience required or preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Commercial construction knowledge and ability to read plans, specs, RFIs, and submittals.
• Experience with construction management software such as Procore/Bluebeam is a plus.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers with day-to-day administration of commercial construction projects.
• Review plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and project documents.
• Assist with subcontractor and vendor coordination.
• Prepare, track, and maintain RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project documentation.
• Assist with project schedules and procurement tracking; review subcontractor invoices and pay applications.
• Help track project costs, budgets, and commitments.
• Participate in project meetings and document notes and action items.
• Assist with material procurement and delivery coordination.
• Communicate with subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and internal teams.
• Assist with quality control and project closeout activities.
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Commercial Construction Project Engineer to join our team in the Denver metro area. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their construction career who is looking to grow within an established commercial General Contractor.

The ideal candidate will have 0–3 years of experience in construction, with a preference for candidates holding a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Candidates without a degree but with hands‑on commercial construction experience are encouraged to apply.

The Project Engineer will support Project Managers and Superintendents throughout the construction process, helping coordinate documentation, subcontractors, materials, schedules, and project communications.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers with the day-to-day administration of commercial construction projects

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of construction experience
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred
• Commercial construction experience strongly preferred for candidates without a degree
• Understanding of commercial construction processes and terminology
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or other construction management software is a plus
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
