Job summary

Old Dominion Firestopping is seeking an organized Project Engineer to support project teams in delivering high-quality firestopping solutions. The role combines field and administrative duties, requiring strong communication and organization to promote efficiency, profitability, and exceptional service on every project.

You will work closely with customers, field teams, and internal departments, managing submittals, schedules, and turnover processes while maintaining professional relationships

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update project tracker.
  • Prepare, review and submit construction submittals.
  • Review project schedules and communicate milestones to leadership.
  • Coordinate project turnover and assemble turnover binders.
  • Prepare and distribute project progress reports and updates.
  • Assist with pricing change orders and maintain change order log.
  • Finalize AAR documents with photos for PM review.
  • Support client relationship management and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Track and manage project assets and inventory.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers.
  • Participate in internal project management meetings.
  • Communicate clearly in person, by phone, and via email.

Job Summary:

Old Dominion Firestopping is looking for an organized and proactive Project Engineer to support our project teams in delivering high-quality firestopping solutions. We provide complete firestopping services to restore the required fire rating for through-penetrations and joint applications, ensuring safety and compliance on every project.

The Project Engineer will work closely with customers, field teams, and internal departments to promote efficiency, profitability, and exceptional service. This position requires a balance of field and administrative responsibilities, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing, and other duties will be assigned based on the position's role within the business unit.

  • Maintain and update projecttracker.
  • Prepare, review, andsubmitconstruction submittals, ensuring compliance with project specifications and approved documents.
  • Review project schedules and communicate key milestones and deadlines to project leadership.
  • Coordinate project turnover by reviewing estimating handoffs, documenting turnover meetings, and assembling turnover binders.
  • Prepare and distribute project progress reports and internal updates.
  • Assistwith pricing change orders andmaintainingthe change order log.
  • Finalize After Action Review (AAR) document with relevant information and photos andsubmitsto Project Manager for review.
  • Support client relationship management andassistin ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Track and manage company assets and inventory assigned to projects.
  • Coordinate and follow up with external vendors and suppliers.
  • Participate in internal project management meetings.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in person, by phone, and via email.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; or a combination of equivalent training, education, and relevant work experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to work extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and manage time and priorities effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to think critically, problem-solve, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and professional demeanor.
  • Effective team player with a positive, solutions-oriented attitude.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and comfortable using digital reporting tools.
  • Ability to interact professionally and constructively with employees at all levels, supervisors, vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Physical Requirements

include but are not limited to the following:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to walk, sit, stand, bend, kneel, stretch, squat and climb.
  • Able to travel to jobsites, meetings, and other destinations as needed.
  • Able to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Able to work with specialized construction equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Able to see, talk and hear in person, via phone and/or through online/video.
  • Able to use hands and fingers in a manner that allows for use of a keyboard and phone.
  • Able to lift & carry items up to 10 lbs.
