Job summary

Gilbane Building is seeking a Project Engineer in Massachusetts to help obtain, evaluate, coordinate, and distribute project information and documentation. You will assist the project team in maintaining the timeline, budget, and quality standards while collaborating across disciplines.

The role emphasizes leadership, problem-solving, and hands-on involvement with cost control, change management, and client communications. Gilbane supports professional growth and a people-first culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 4+ years of experience with a large trade contractor, construction management, or general contractor.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification; knowledge of contract documents and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the change-management process under the direction of the Project Manager.
  • Participate in monthly cost-report meetings with meaningful data and talking points.
  • Adhere to project-control procedures including cost control and pay requests.
  • Expedite material deliveries efficiently.
  • Review and evaluate shop drawings accurately.
  • Encourage innovative approaches to problems and opportunities.
  • Develop business by identifying client needs and communicating value.
  • Foster positive customer relations and market sector knowledge.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Support a positive and inclusive work environment.

Experience / Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 4+ years of experience with a large trade contractor, construction management, or general contractor organization
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Qualifications
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Capability to set specific, measurable, attainable performance goals and hold others accountable for achieving them
  • Ability to build active team participation, trust, and strengthen positive interactions
  • Ability to articulate financial knowledge and customer‑satisfaction awareness of how the company profits
  • Adaptable communication style for various audiences and situations, including effective presentations and concise writing on complex topics
  • Financial management familiarity
  • OSHA 30‑hour certification

  • Proficiency in Procore
  • Expertise in CMiC preferred
Salary

Salary will be determined based on location, skills, education, and experience. For Massachusetts, the range is $93,700.00–$121,700.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
