Job summary

Aperture Group, an established general contractor, is opening an office in Austin and seeks a project engineer with 2–4 years of GC experience. You won’t do design; you will read plans, manage RFIs and submittals, and assist with estimating and budgeting, staying involved from preconstruction through closeout.

Join a small team with exposure across TI, ground-up and life sciences projects, and build toward a Project Manager role.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of project engineer experience with a commercial GC
• Hands-on experience reading plans and managing RFIs and submittals
• Estimating and budgeting experience with strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager and Superintendent on commercial projects from preconstruction through closeout
• Review drawings, specifications and contract documents across architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical scopes
• Manage RFIs, submittals and shop drawings, and keep project logs and records accurate
• Assist with estimating, budgeting and cost tracking, including change orders and their cost impact
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers
• Support project schedules and flag conflicts early
• Help manage permitting with municipalities and design teams
• Coordinate inspections and testing, and help resolve field issues

We're working with an established commercial general contractor that has been building for more than 40 years and is now opening an office in Austin. They work on tenant improvements, ground-up commercial buildings, medical office, life sciences and mixed-use projects.

This role is for a project engineer with 2 to 4 years at a commercial GC who's ready for more ownership. You won't do any design. The work is reading plans, managing RFIs and submittals, estimating and budgeting, and staying involved from preconstruction through closeout.
