Job summary

Griffith Foods is seeking a Project Engineer to manage the CAPEX process and project outcomes at its Lithonia, GA plant. You will control budgets, forecast capital cash flow, and ensure project success from planning through execution.

The role requires a mechanical/related engineering degree and at least 3 years in engineering project management within food manufacturing, with AutoCAD experience. Onsite work in Lithonia, with a potential bonus opportunity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, mechatronic, or chemical engineering or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in engineering project management.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in food and beverage manufacturing.
  • Exposure to AutoCAD or a similar drafting system.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and oversees planning, organization, control, and completion of capital projects at the facility.
  • Manages staffing for capital projects with maintenance, CI, and outside contractors.
  • Communicates plans to stakeholders and steering committees as needed.
  • Leads process improvements through capital projects and manufacturing upgrades.
  • Maintains layouts and master plans for sites, updated annually.

Job description

TITLE: Project Engineer

LOCATION: Onsite in Lithonia, GA

COMP RANGE: $85,000 - $120,000/year plus bonus

Griffith Foods is hiring a Project Engineer to manage the overall CAPEX process and project outcomes of their food manufacturing plant from planning through execution. This includes overall control of expenditure within the unit and specific project budget, and capital cash flow forecasting and spending.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within the assigned facility (or facilities).
  • Exercises functional authority over personnel that work on capital projects, such as maintenance, continuous improvement, and outside contractors, and coordinates and negotiates project staffing requirements.
  • Provides integral communication with the broader team to enable planning, troubleshooting, and execution of key initiatives. This includes the preparation and presentation of plans to project stakeholders/steering committee depending on the size of each capital initiative.
  • Carries out process improvement initiatives through capital projects, coordinating the launch of manufacturing upgrades by establishing goals, training team members, evaluating results, and integrating the projects into plant operation.
  • Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment to support the development of master plans for the assigned site(s), updated at least annually.
  • Maintains interface with business unit and supply chain leadership to provide capital plan updates and ensure customer needs are met.
  • Supports standards development and application.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for Project Management Principles and Early Management and VSU within the assigned site and incorporates its concepts into each initiative, owning the VSU roadmap for each project as necessary.
  • Responsible for utilization of Project Management Principles and Early Management Principles.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for Maintenance Prevention, Design FMEA, TT&T, FAT, SAT, and CQV methodologies, assigning and overseeing project personnel over each specific phase of the VSU cycle of a project and documenting all aspects of project execution within the VSU framework, such as project deliverable definition, design lock (Integrated Design Brief & Scope) document elaboration, FAT, SAT and CQV checklists elaboration and execution.
The Project Engineer position is well-suited for you if you have:
  • Engineering project management & execution experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in Early Management and Vertical Startup Up.
  • Supported strategic planning in manufacturing.
Qualified Candidates Will Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, mechatronic, or chemical engineering or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in engineering project management.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in food and beverage manufacturing.
  • Exposure to and familiarity with Auto CAD or a similar drafting system.
What Will Set You Apart
  • A degree in a Mechatronic Engineering or a related field.
  • Previous engineering project management experience at a manufacturing firm or a consulting firm that specializes in food manufacturing processes.
  • PE designation.

Candidates must currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk to communicate and listen effectively. This will require both office and plant floor environments. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee will occasionally need to operate and drive a forklift or electronic pallet jack to transport materials or goods.

Environmental Concerns

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Dust and odor present in environment.
