Job summary

Ardagh Glass Packaging is seeking a Project Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design, drawings, and installation for glass manufacturing facilities in Indianapolis. You will oversee capital projects, work with contractors, and coordinate with plant teams to ensure safe, efficient operation.

This role requires a bachelor's in electrical engineering, 7+ years in manufacturing, strong communication, and hands-on proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Office; willingness to travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop solutions for Ardagh Glass Packaging plants to satisfy capacity constraints and align with the Capital Plan.
• Supervise capital projects and interface with contractors and engineers during field installations.
• Prepare conceptual drawings, budget estimates, and Capital Approval Requests.
• Develop project scope, materials and labor cost estimates, and bidding documents.
• Collaborate with plant teams to develop electrical engineering scopes.
• Source bidders, coordinate bidding, and prepare bid packages and specs.
• Evaluate new processes and equipment for benefits to packaging.
• Investigate project circumstances and define objectives.
• Prepare calculations, design layouts, and AutoCAD drawings for study and installation.
• Provide operational support and troubleshooting for ongoing issues.
• Lead root cause analyses on equipment failures.
• Document maintenance steps for equipment and support preventive/predictive maintenance.
• Train plant operations and maintenance on electrical systems.

Project Electrical Engineer

The Project Electrical Engineer provides technical expertise while carrying out and completing designs, engineering drawings, construction, installation, and rebuilding of facilities and equipment within the area of discipline. The area of discipline includes but is not limited to power distribution systems, boosting systems, batch house/furnace controls, furnace repairs, plant support on electrical systems, emergency generators, switchgear, and other areas associated with glass container manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Develop solutions for Ardagh Glass Packaging plants to satisfy the capacity customer and quality constraints and ensure they fall within the Ardagh Group Capital Plan
• Supervise capital projects and interface with contractors and other Ardagh Group engineers during field installations
• Prepare conceptual drawings, and budgetary project estimates, and submit Capital Approval Requests for management approval
• Develop project scope definition, materials and labor cost estimates, and competitive bidding documents for equipment and contract work
• Work closely with and involve the plant team while developing scopes for the electrical engineering‑related projects
• Seek potential bidders, coordinate the bidding process, and prepare bid packages and equipment specifications
• Evaluate new processes and equipment to determine the benefits to Ardagh Glass Packaging
• Investigate circumstances surrounding each assigned project and prepare a definition of objectives
• Prepare calculations, design layouts, and AutoCAD drawings as required for project study evaluation approval and installation
• Provide operational support and troubleshooting for ongoing issues that plant teams cannot manage
• Participate and/or lead root cause analysis on equipment failures
• Document maintenance task steps to properly maintain manufacturing equipment
• Work with and support plant maintenance teams with respect to preventive and predictive maintenance of the electrical systems
• Train plant operations and maintenance teams on the operation/troubleshooting of the electrical systems in glass bottle manufacturing

Minimum skills / qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field
• Seven (7) years in a manufacturing environment including construction and project management experience
• Ability to design and render working drawings for a variety of manufacturing processes
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in planning and organization
• Detail-oriented and can identify problems and make recommendations
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to travel up to 50%

Preferred skills / qualifications

• Prior experience in glass container process equipment and production
• Prior experience with preventive and/or predictive maintenance programs and CMMS
• Servant leader mindset while supporting engineering and plant teams
