Job summary

PORR Deutschland GmbH is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead a large-scale data center construction project, overseeing the full lifecycle from concept and tender through commissioning and handover.

You will coordinate civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams, manage budgets above €100M, ensure safety, quality, schedule and client satisfaction, and report progress to senior management and clients.

Qualifications

• Degree requirement and seniority for large-scale builds.
• 10+ years in large-scale construction; 5+ years in data center or mission-critical environments.
• Cross-disciplinary coordination across civil, structural, architectural and MEP.
• Knowledge of MEP systems and Tier standards; German law familiarity is a plus.
• Experience managing budgets over €100M and leading multicultural project teams.
• PM certifications desirable; fluent English; German or Polish advantageous.

Your Tasks

• PORR is expanding its data center activities and is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of a large-scale data center construction project. The role is responsible for full project lifecycle management, from concept design and tender through commissioning and handover, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives are met in line with PORR and client expectations and corporate standards.
• Strategic leadership across all project phases, guiding multidisciplinary teams of construction, engineering, and commissioning professionals
• Management of contract execution, resource planning, subcontractor planning, and stakeholder relations with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
• Steering of project performance, ensuring milestones are met according to budget, schedule, and scope
• Oversight of compliance with data center construction standards, local building regulations, and workplace safety laws
• Coordination with design, procurement, and commissioning teams to achieve technical excellence and alignment with operational requirements
• Reporting of progress, risk, and cost to senior management and clients, including recommendation of mitigation strategies
• Promotion of a collaborative, safety-first, and quality-driven culture across all project partners

Your Profile

• Degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering, construction management, or comparable qualification
• Minimum 10 years' experience in large-scale construction projects
• At least 5 years' experience in mission-critical or data center environments
• Proven cross-disciplinary coordination experience (civil, structural, architectural, MEP)
• Strong knowledge of MEP systems, commissioning processes, and Tier standards (Uptime or equivalent)
• Proven ability to manage budgets over €100M and lead large, multicultural project teams
• Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership capabilities
• Knowledge of German construction law and administrative procedures
• Ability to work in a multi-tasking environment and under time pressure
• Project management certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, IPMA, or comparable) desirable
• Fluency in English; German or Polish language skills advantageous
