City of New York is seeking a Community Coordinator to support borough recreation activities at Ranaqua in the Bronx. You will develop and coordinate programs, manage vendor inquiries, and maintain budgets using AMPS and Excel. Responsibilities include supervising data entry and ensuring adherence to purchasing and branding guidelines.

The role is open to current full-time Parks employees only. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree with two years of related community work

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities; or
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the above with at least one year of experience as described in (1).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and coordinate borough Recreation activities.
  • Coordinate, process and track all vendor/purchasing inquiries and requests.
  • Create and maintain borough-wide tracking reports using AMPS and Excel.
  • Administer maintenance contracts and coordinate preventive maintenance with contractors.
  • Serve as liaison with Purchasing and Accounting; ensure purchase requisitions are accurate.
  • Work with vendors to obtain reasonable prices and coordinate deliveries.
  • Identify and fund business improvement opportunities with leadership.
  • Ensure branding guidelines are followed on Marketing materials.
  • Supervise staff performing data entry.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Major Responsibilities
  • Under general direction, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, perform difficult and responsible administrative work for the development, implementation and coordination of borough Recreation activities.
  • Coordinate, process and track all vendor/purchasing inquiries and requests.
  • Using Asset Management Parks System (AMPS) and Excel spreadsheets, create and maintain borough-wide tracking reports, including material and equipment needs, inventory, Other Than Personal Services (OTPS) purchases and budgets.
  • Working with Center Managers, administer maintenance contracts, which include air conditioning, fire safety, exterminator and fitness equipment. Coordinate preventive maintenance services with contractors for all borough recreation centers.
  • Serve as a liaison with Purchasing and Accounting divisions. Ensure purchase requisitions are accurate and manage all open Purchase Order balances. Ensure recreation staff adhere to purchasing and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Work with vendors to obtain reasonable prices for services, equipment and supplies. Coordinate merchandise delivery with vendors and recreation centers.
  • Work with Chief, Deputy Chiefs, Center Managers and Budget to identify and fund business improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure branding guidelines are followed on all Marketing materials.
  • Supervise staff performing data entry, if needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Fees: Hired candidates will be subject to a processing fee between $40.00 to $101.00 based on the salary range of title. Hired candidates who are not currently employed by the City will be subject to a $104.50 background check fee.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree. 2. Experience in project management, contract management or a related field. 3. Excellent leadership and communication skills. 4. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite. 5. Knowledge of E-requester, Financial Management System (FMS) and AMPS. 6. Valid New York State driver license.

Residency Requirement

Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency is required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
