Job summary

Superior is seeking a Project Development Associate to help identify, evaluate, and pursue new electrical construction opportunities in Columbus, Ohio. The role supports preconstruction and bidding efforts by coordinating deliverables, assisting with proposals, and building strong relationships with General Contractors, owners, developers, and industry partners.

The position reports to the Director of Strategy & Project Development and is based at our Columbus headquarters.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in construction, project development, preconstruction, estimating, or business development.
• Understanding of construction bidding and project development processes.
• Bonus: bachelor’s degree in Construction Systems Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
• Bonus: experience with BuildingConnected or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop project pursuit deliverables including hourly rate build ups and long lead equipment tracking.
• Coordinate with Preconstruction teams to keep estimates on track for submission.
• Track and evaluate upcoming electrical construction opportunities.
• Support review and scoring of new project opportunities.
• Assist with prequalification efforts alongside Risk Management team.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and proposal presentations.
• Support post-bid follow-up and negotiation processes.
• Maintain accurate project pipeline and client information.
• Monitor market trends and opportunities.
• Build relationships with contractors, developers, owners, and industry partners.

Description

Position: Project Development Associate

Reports to: Director of Strategy & Project Development

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Pay Range: $70,000 - $90,000

Superior is looking for a Project Development Associate to help identify, evaluate, and pursue new electrical construction opportunities. This role will support project development and preconstruction efforts by coordinating pursuit deliverables, evaluating project opportunities, supporting bids and proposals, and building strong relationships with General Contractors, owners, developers, and industry partners. The Project Development Associate will work closely with our Preconstruction, Risk Management, and project teams to help drive opportunities from initial pursuit through post bid follow up and negotiation. This role is based at our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop project pursuit deliverables, including hourly rate build ups, general conditions cost build ups, long lead equipment tracking, and skilled labor curves
• Coordinate with Preconstruction teams to ensure estimates and other deliverables are on track for submission
• Track and evaluate upcoming public and private electrical construction opportunities
• Support the review and scoring of new project opportunities
• Assist with General Contractor and Owner prequalification efforts alongside Risk Management team
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, scope alignment meetings, and proposal presentations
• Support post-bid follow-up and negotiation processes
• Maintain accurate project pipeline, opportunity, and client information
• Monitor construction market trends and new opportunities
• Build relationships with General Contractors, developers, owners, and industry partners

Your Expertise

• Required: You have at least 1 year of experience in construction, project development, preconstruction, estimating, or business development
• Required: You understand construction bidding and project development processes
• Bonus Points: You have a bachelor's degree in Construction Systems Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field
• Bonus Points: You have experience in electrical, mechanical, or specialty contracting
• Bonus Points: You have experience with BuildingConnected or similar construction bidding platforms
