Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley is seeking a Project Design Engineer - Civil to join its water and wastewater project teams. You will oversee the design lifecycle from outline through detailed design, coordinating civil, electrical, mechanical and process engineers and BIM specialists to ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery and high quality outcomes.

You will work within a multi‑disciplinary project team, mentor less experienced staff, and collaborate closely with clients to deliver robust solutions across

Qualifications

• AcCREDITED degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Outline and detailed design experience in water/wastewater projects.
• Knowledge of Designer or Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of water or infrastructure projects from outline to detailed design.
• Coordinate civil, electrical, mechanical, process designers and BIM modelers.
• Manage design teams to meet programme, budget and quality standards.
• Mentor junior colleagues and foster a collaborative, one-team approach.
• Work with Site Manager and QS to balance technical, constructability and commercial aspects.

What does a Project Design Engineer - Civil do day to day?

• Working as part of a "project triangle" alongside a Site Manager and Quantity Surveyor to ensure that technical, constructability and commercial aspects of project delivery are considered throughout.
• Leading the design of treatment or infrastructure projects from the initial outline to detailed design, through construction, commissioning, and handover
• Coordinating the project team including civil, electrical, mechanical and process designers, BIM modelers and technical specialists and ensure designs are completed on programme, within budget, and to the quality defined by each framework and industry specifications
• Undertake design in own discipline and mentor less experienced colleagues where appropriate
• Building positive relationships with the clients' project, operational and technical assurance teams and promote a "one-team" approach

What you'll need:

• Accredited Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Incorporated Member of Engineering Institution.
• Outline and detailed design experience of water or wastewater projects.
• Knowledge of the Designer or Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015
