Mott MacDonald Bentley is seeking a Project Design Engineer to join its North East delivery teams. You will manage the design lifecycle from outline to detailed design, coordinating across civil, electrical, mechanical and process disciplines, BIM professionals and technical specialists.

The role supports chartership progression and involves working within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver treatment projects while maintaining schedule and budget. The position offers flexible working options.

Qualifications

• Accredited engineering degree in Civil, Mechanical, Process, or Electrical.
• Incorporated Member of Engineering Institution (IEng or CEng).
• Outline and detailed design experience on water or wastewater projects.
• Knowledge of Designer or Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a project triangle with Site Manager and Quantity Surveyor to balance technical, constructability and commercial aspects.
• Lead the design of treatment or infrastructure projects from outline to detailed design, through construction, commissioning and handover.
• Coordinate civil, electrical, mechanical and process designers, BIM modelers and specialists to keep designs on programme and within budget.
• Provide design in own discipline and mentor junior colleagues where appropriate.
• Build strong relationships with client teams and promote a collaborative, one-team approach.

About the Company

Mott MacDonald Bentley is a fully integrated design and build business combining the design expertise of Mott MacDonald with the contracting experience of JN Bentley to deliver award winning projects. We joined a new partnership in Northumbrian Water's new Living Water Enterprise, an innovative vehicle developed to deliver large scale construction programmes in AMP8 and beyond, supporting a £3.6bn workload. Northumbrian Water supplies water and sewerage services to just under 4.4 million people and has worked closely with MMB and JN Bentley since 2001. In this time, the companies have delivered hundreds of engineering and construction projects together. This new contract will extend the relationship to at least 2030 and see MMB - which harnesses the contracting strength of JN Bentley and the design specialisms of Mott MacDonald - undertake treatment projects across the North East.

Role Overview

The Project Design Engineer role combines elements of both traditional Project Management and Design Engineering, managing projects through the outline and detailed design lifecycle, supported by our multi-disciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities

• Work as part of a "project triangle" alongside a Site Manager and Quantity Surveyor to ensure that technical, constructability and commercial aspects of project delivery are considered throughout.
• Lead the design of treatment or infrastructure projects from the initial outline to detailed design, through construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Coordinate the project team including civil, electrical, mechanical and process designers, BIM modelers and technical specialists to ensure designs are completed on programme, within budget, and to industry standards.
• Undertake design in own discipline and mentor less experienced colleagues where appropriate.
• Build positive relationships with the client's project, operational and technical assurance teams and promote a "one-team" approach.

Requirements

• Accredited Degree in Engineering - Civil, Mechanical, Process, or Electrical.
• Incorporated Member of Engineering Institution.
• Outline and detailed design experience of water or wastewater projects.
• Knowledge of the Designer or Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015.
