Job summary

Mott MacDonald Group is seeking an experienced project engineer to design and manage water and wastewater projects in the NY/NJ area. You will lead a team of engineers, deliver high-quality designs, and coordinate with clients and project managers.

Ideal candidates hold a NJ/NY PE license and a Civil/Environmental/Mechanical engineering degree, with strong communication and team-Leadership skills. Hybrid work with in-office collaboration is emphasized.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of municipal or private water/wastewater project experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Mechanical/Environmental Engineering or similar.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in NJ and/or NY.
• Strong communication and technical report writing.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Complete engineering design and documents for water/wastewater projects.
• Perform preliminary design calculations and evaluate options.
• Prepare planning documents, cost estimates, drawings, and specifications with project managers and CAD staff.
• Conform to client and company drawing standards; coordinate with disciplines.
• Support client meetings and QA/QC reviews.
• Lead a team of junior engineers and foster their growth.
• Assist with construction phase activities including RFIs and submittals.

We are seeking a driven and experienced project engineer to design and manage projects in the New York/ New Jersey area. We are seeking someone who has 7 to 12 yearsof experience and is enthusiastic about delivering water and wastewater projects. You willbe responsible formanaging all or portions of projects and leading a team of junior engineers by helping them grow and develop their careers.

Responsibilities include:

• Complete preliminary and detailed engineering design and associated documents on a variety of water and wastewater treatment and collection and distribution projects
• Perform preliminary engineering by analyzing data, performing design calculationsin accordance withregulatory requirements and guidelines and evaluating options to develop the best solution
• Prepare planning and design documents, cost estimates, calculations, project drawings, and technical specifications in coordination with project managers, project engineers, CADstaffand other disciplines
• Conform to client and company standards for document and drawing preparation
• Conduct internal coordination meetings and provide substantial support for client meetings
• Work with team to ensure deliverables are executed with technical accuracy, on time and within budget
• Ensure formal QA/QC reviews are performed for each project oneis responsible for
• Assistwith various construction phase office support activities including review of RFI's and submittals, andparticipatein field work including construction observation activities

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Minimum 7 years of project experience for municipal and/or private development related to design and design review of water/wastewater systems including treatment facilities, water and stormwater piping, sewers, sewer rehab, mechanicalpipingand lift stations.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering(Civil, Mechanical,Environmentalor similar)
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer in New Jersey and/or New York
• DesiredComputer skills: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit (or other 3D BIM software), Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills including technical report writing.
• Enthusiastic, dependable, self-starter, who is organized and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.

The expected salary for this position is

NY: $152,000 - $186,000

NJ: $143,000 - $175,000
