Job summary

WSP in the U.S. is seeking a Water Asset Design Project Manager to lead multidisciplinary teams from optioning through delivery and client handover on water network schemes and wastewater/water treatment projects.

Responsibilities include managing proposals, controlling P&L, developing schedules, risk registers and contract administration, and ensuring on-time delivery within budget while maintaining strong client relationships.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in the delivery of infrastructure projects, preferably within regulated water industry.
  • Working knowledge or accreditation in NEC supported with technical and practical skills to administer NEC contracts.
  • Membership of professional institutions such as APM, PMI, or MICE.
  • Proficiency in use of project management tools and software.
  • Demonstrated competence in stakeholder management, risk, planning/scheduling, and commercial management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project proposals including determining project requirements, scope, resources, programme, and cost estimates.
  • Own P&L with commercial and financial accountability including revenue delivery, margin and overhead management, budget and forecast attainment, risk and opportunity reviews, cost controls, accounts payable/billing and cash collection.
  • Develop project management documentation: plans, cost estimates and forecasts, risk registers, schedules, stakeholder registers, organisation charts, etc.
  • Monitor and control the project schedule, manhours, budgets, forecasts, and expenditure.
  • Ensure effective contract management including contract administration and change management.
  • Manage work performed by project team members, ensuring outputs meet requirements.
  • Manage project deliverables, information and records.
  • Communicate project information effectively to the team and customer.
  • Anticipate and take pre‑emptive action to address issues and potential conflicts impacting delivery.
  • Lead multi‑disciplinary project teams consisting of technical/professional staff and suppliers.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and capture lessons learned.

Water Asset Design Project Manager

Our Water Asset Design team works primarily in the municipal water sector as well as the non‑regulated industrial/international sector. We deliver wastewater treatment, water treatment, sewerage, and water network schemes, and support related industries. Projects range from routine network maintenance to large‑scale water projects across the UK. The role is to lead delivery of projects involving multidisciplinary teams, from optioneering through delivery and handover to the client.
