Job description

At RK&K, we are hiring a Project Delivery Leader in Traffic to support existing clients and develop new business across the firm. As a senior member of our firmwide development team, you will lead various pursuits and projects related to transportation, focusing on our current and expanding service areas. The role involves supporting public agencies with traffic analysis and design engineering programs across our portfolio.

This position can be remote, with required travel to project sites as needed.

Essential Functions

• Perform transportation planning studies, traffic operations analysis, and traffic engineering design and preliminary engineering.
• Support projects across all travel modes, including highway, bus, rail, bicycle, and pedestrian, in urban, suburban, and rural settings.
• Develop high-quality traffic reports and present findings professionally to clients both on-site and virtually.
• Prepare documentation and design plans for traffic control devices, signals, signing, pavement markings, temporary traffic control, lighting, and ITS.
• Use traffic analysis and simulation tools for modeling and simulations.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations.
• Facilitate meetings with internal teams and clients, and oversee plan approvals.
• Manage project staff and sub-consultants.
• Act as a liaison between clients and the firm.
• Perform QA/QC to ensure design accuracy and completeness.
• Apply engineering judgment and initiative within the Traffic Engineering field.

Required Skills and Experience

• 10+ years of progressive traffic engineering experience.
• Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills, including public speaking.
• Knowledge of Highway Safety Manual, Highway Capacity Manual, and AASHTO guidelines.
• Proficiency with Synchro/SimTraffic and VISSIM or similar simulation software.
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• PE license or ability to obtain within six months.
• Experience with traffic control device design using MUTCD.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• MSCE or higher degree.
• PTOE certification.
• Experience working in multiple states.
