Job description

At RK&K, we are hiring a Project Delivery Leader in Traffic to support existing clients and develop new business firm-wide. As a senior member of our firmwide development team, you will lead various pursuits and projects related to transportation, focusing on traffic analysis and design engineering programs across RK&K's current and new service areas.

This role can be remote, with required travel to project sites as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Perform transportation planning studies, traffic operations analysis, traffic engineering design plans, and preliminary engineering design.
  • Support projects across all modes of travel, including highway, bus, rail, bicycle, and pedestrian in urban, suburban, and rural environments.
  • Complete studies and develop high-quality traffic reports, presenting findings professionally to clients both on-site and virtually.
  • Prepare documentation and design plans for traffic control devices, including signals, signing, pavement markings, temporary traffic control, lighting, and ITS.
  • Utilize traffic analysis and simulation tools for modeling and simulations.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations.
  • Facilitate meetings, presentations, and plan approvals with internal teams and clients.
  • Supervise project staff and sub-consultants.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and the firm.
  • Ensure quality assurance/quality control for design work.
  • Apply engineering judgment and initiative within the Traffic Engineering field.
Required Skills and Experience
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in traffic engineering.
  • Exceptional communication, including writing, verbal skills, and public speaking.
  • Experience with Highway Safety Manual, Highway Capacity Manual, and AASHTO guidelines.
  • Advanced proficiency with Synchro/SimTraffic and VISSIM or similar simulation software.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within six months.
  • Experience designing traffic control devices using MUTCD standards.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • MSCE certification.
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) credential.
  • Experience working in multiple states.
