Job description

At RK&K, we are hiring a Project Delivery Leader in Traffic to support existing clients and develop new business firm-wide. As a senior member of our firmwide development team, you will lead various pursuits and projects related to transportation, focusing on current and new service areas. In this role, you will support public agencies with traffic analysis and design engineering programs across our portfolio.

This position can be remote with required travel to project sites as needed.

Essential Functions
  1. Perform transportation planning studies, traffic operations analysis, and traffic engineering design, including preliminary engineering.
  2. Support projects across all modes of travel: highway, bus, rail, bicycle, and pedestrian in urban, suburban, and rural settings.
  3. Develop high-quality traffic reports and present findings clearly and professionally to clients both on-site and virtually.
  4. Prepare documentation and design plans for traffic control devices such as signals, signing, pavement markings, lighting, and ITS.
  5. Utilize traffic analysis and simulation tools like Synchro/SimTraffic and VISSIM for modeling and analysis.
  6. Prepare technical reports and presentations.
  7. Facilitate meetings, presentations, and plan approvals with internal teams and clients.
  8. Manage project staff and sub-consultants.
  9. Serve as a liaison between clients and the firm.
  10. Ensure quality assurance and control for design work.
  11. Apply engineering judgment and initiative within the Traffic Engineering field.
Required Skills and Experience
  1. 10+ years of progressive experience in traffic engineering.
  2. Exceptional communication, writing, and presentation skills, including public speaking.
  3. Experience with Highway Safety Manual, Highway Capacity Manual, and AASHTO guidelines.
  4. Advanced experience with Synchro/SimTraffic and VISSIM or similar simulation software.
  5. Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  6. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within six months.
  7. Experience designing traffic control devices using MUTCD standards.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  1. MSCE (Master of Science in Civil Engineering)
  2. Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.
  3. Experience working in multiple states.
