Job description

At RK&K, we are hiring a Project Delivery Leader in Traffic to support existing clients and develop new business firm-wide. As a senior member of our firmwide development team, you will lead various pursuits and projects related to transportation, focusing on traffic analysis and design engineering across RK&K's service areas. This role supports public agencies on traffic analysis and design programs within our current and future portfolio.

This position can be remote with required travel to project sites as needed.

Essential Functions

1. Perform transportation planning studies, traffic operations analysis, and design plans.
2. Support projects across all modes of travel including highway, bus, rail, bicycle, and pedestrian in diverse environments.
3. Complete studies and develop traffic reports, presenting findings professionally to clients onsite and virtually.
4. Prepare documentation and design plans for traffic control devices, signals, signage, pavement markings, lighting, and ITS.
5. Use traffic analysis tools for modeling and simulations.
6. Prepare technical reports and presentations.
7. Facilitate meetings and presentations with internal teams and clients.
8. Manage project staff and sub-consultants.
9. Act as liaison between clients and the firm.
10. Ensure quality control of design work.
11. Apply engineering judgment and initiative in traffic engineering.

Required Skills and Experience

1. 10+ years of progressive experience in traffic engineering.
2. Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills, including public speaking.
3. Experience with Highway Safety Manual, Highway Capacity Manual, and AASHTO guidelines.
4. Proficiency with Synchro/SimTraffic and VISSIM or similar simulation software.
5. Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
6. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within six months.
7. Experience designing traffic control devices using MUTCD standards.

Preferred Skills and Experience

1. MSCE or higher degree.
2. Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.
3. Experience working in multiple states.
