Job description

At RK&K, we are hiring a Project Delivery Leader in Transportation to support existing clients and develop new business firm-wide. As a senior member of our firmwide development team, you will lead various structural pursuits and projects related to transportation, focusing on projects across RK&K's current and new service areas. Join our profit center team to perform a wide range of transportation/highway planning and engineering tasks, including developing and analyzing alternative solutions, overseeing talented staff, and leading highway planning and/or design projects. The candidate must have a clear understanding of AASHTO standards and local state/municipal design criteria. Coordination with clients, consultants, government agencies, and project staff will be essential.

This role can be remote with required travel to project locations as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Lead transportation planning and/or design projects in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Mentor junior engineering and technician staff on transportation planning and design tasks
  • Understand and apply Highway Design Standards and other relevant guidelines to transportation projects
  • Produce construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Maintain excellent written and oral communication skills; work effectively in a team environment
  • Serve as Project/Program and Contractual Manager on transportation projects
  • Facilitate meetings, presentations, and plan approvals with internal teams and clients
  • Direct project staff and sub-consultants
  • Act as liaison between clients and the firm
  • Participate in business development and marketing efforts to secure future clients and workload
Required Skills and Experience
  • BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • 10+ years of civil engineering design experience focusing on transportation/highway engineering
  • PE license or ability to obtain within six months
  • Proficiency in Microstation, Geopak, InRoads, Open Roads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with federal, state, and local government projects
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience with alternative project delivery methods
  • Experience working across multiple states
