Job summary

Ideal Steel, LLC is seeking a full-time Job Cost Accountant in Detroit, MI. The role centers on accurate recording, analysis, and reporting of project-related financial transactions to support profitability and compliant processes.

Responsibilities include cost allocations, vendor payments, and month-end close support. The team collaborates with Project Managers, Operations, Procurement, and Finance to resolve issues and improve procedures while maintaining GAAP compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
• Three or more years of progressive accounting or cost analysis experience, preferably in project-based accounting.

Responsibilities

• Perform general accounting and job cost accounting duties, including account maintenance, transaction processing, reconciliations, and audit support.
• Process vendor payment requests in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with contracts and procedures.
• Monitor and manage PO-related job costs for accuracy and proper allocation.
• Prepare and maintain records to support month-end and year-end closes.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies with project managers, operations, procurement, and vendors.
• Assist with project cost reporting, variance analysis, and WIP reporting.
