This position is open to the public and all current City employees covered under the City’s collective bargaining agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) – BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Facilitating and optimizing communication between section leaders and the Managing Deputy Commissioner to ensure alignment of project objectives, priorities, and status, and to drive decision-making.
  2. Pro-actively monitoring project status and addressing potential risks by providing real-time solutions and adjustments to ensure all projects meet deadlines, stay within scope, and adhere to quality standards.
  3. Developing and managing comprehensive project plans that include detailed schedules, budgets, and resource allocation, ensuring effective execution and timely delivery of initiatives.
  4. Ensuring full compliance with departmental policies, regulations, and industry standards, addressing any issues that arise to maintain alignment with legal and organizational requirements.
  5. Driving the preparation and delivery of high-level project reports, status updates, and presentations for leadership and stakeholders, providing critical insights into project performance and outcomes.
  6. Tracking and documenting performance across all projects, ensuring all tasks are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with the department’s strategic goals.
  7. Leading project execution by overseeing the coordination of timelines, resources, and deliverables across the Managing Deputy's sections, ensuring seamless execution of strategic initiatives.
  8. Assisting the Project Administrator with projects and programs such as Eno, W4A Girls STEM Program and AMAC Chicago.
  9. Overseeing the seasonal Pool Motor Truck Driver program, setting up meetings with appropriate parties, reviewing candidate qualification, on-boarding and off-boarding of the 400 Pool Motor Truck Drivers, etc.

Additional duties may be required for this position.

LOCATION: Chicago Department of Aviation

DAYS & HOURS: MONDAY-FRIDAY 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.

THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration, Social Sciences, Planning or a related field, supplemented by three years of progressively responsible experience in program administration, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.

NOTE: The candidate selected for hire must pass an airport background check and a Security Threat Assessment (STA).

NOTE: This position is subject to work off hour shifts as required.

NOTE: This position requires a VALID LICENSE at the time of hire.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS: This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.
