Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants seeks a Project Control Specialist III to support Los Alamos National Labs in Los Alamos, NM. The role encompasses cost estimating, schedule development, and control activities, with supervision of cost engineering and planning tasks as needed.

The candidate will apply EVMS tools, P6, and Cobra expertise to monitor project performance, analyze variances, and ensure timely delivery under federal contract requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of related experience or equivalent.
  • Experience with P6 and Deltek Cobra in cost and scheduling controls.
  • Experience performing schedule development, control, and cost analysis in field and home office.
  • Knowledge of supervision, training, and personnel administration.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cost estimating, analysis, and control activities.
  • Perform schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring activities.
  • Supervise and provide technical direction for cost engineering and scheduling activities when delegated.
  • Identify trends and ensure work is completed as scheduled.
  • Resolve complex issues with engineering and project controls expertise.

Project Controls III
Overview

We are seeking a Project Control Specialist III to support our work at Los Alamos National Labs in Los Alamos, NM.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performed cost estimating, analysis, and control activities.
  • Performed schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring activities.
  • Supported project organizational and administrative activities, when delegated. Supervised and provided technical direction for cost engineering and/or planning/scheduling activities, when delegated.
  • Ensured work is completed as scheduled. Identified trends for management attention.
  • Used professional concepts and Laboratory objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Contributed to the development of new theories and methods.
  • Considered an expert in the field within the organization.
  • Developed resolutions to complex problems that required frequent creativity; analysis of situations or data required an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Work was accomplished without considerable direction.
  • Coordinated activities of other personnel, where applicable.
  • Exerted significant latitude in determining objectives of assignments and determining the methods and procedures needed for new assignments.
Education and Licensure

Bachelor's degree and a minimum eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • P6 and Deltek Cobra Experience.
  • Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, and analysis; and cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis, in the field and home office.
  • Knowledge of supervision, personnel administration, and training of technical and non-technical personnel. Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Proficiency in using personal computer operating systems and several basic software applications.
  • Cobra administration experience with backend software capabilities.
  • Proficiency in using multiple discipline‑specific software applications currently used.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
  • For positions also serving as a Control Account Manager (CAM), advanced knowledge of and experience with project controls and/or project management, project budgets including cost estimating, cost control and cost analysis, project scheduling, implementation of corrective actions, developing and delivering detailed and accurate status reports and advanced knowledge of and experience with engineering functions and principles required to understand and successfully implement and monitor technical projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tools and processes.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to federal contract security requirements.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance.
