Job Description
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Junior Project Controls Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will work closely with a project team to assist with the management of multiple contracts.
Cost Engineering
What You'll Be Doing:
- Management of multiple contract databases and tracking detailed project costs.
- Assisting with forecasting, project billing, and revenue recognition.
- Coordinating with clients, other client-side consultants, and internal staff to complete routine and isolated tasks.
- Carrying out annual cost savings analysis, change orders, and reconciliation to ensure accuracy.
- Assisting with the development and management of the cost control systems to provide project and company management with accurate financial information. Facilitates the development of the work breakdown structure (WBS), interfacing with Procurement, Engineering, and Finance Departments as needed.
- Performing some independent analysis of data stored in the project management and cost control systems. Creating presentations using graphs, diagrams, and other exhibits to illustrate cost status.
Planning And Scheduling
- Implementing and maintaining Project Planning and Scheduling.
- Understanding and applying engineering, procurement, and construction terminology, concepts, and relationships.
- Developing and maintaining less complex critical path logic networks and bar charts utilizing this information.
- Analyzing, evaluating, and forecasting current status against an established baseline schedule.
- Assessing the impact(s) of design or construction changes and schedule slippages.
- Reporting schedule status to all levels of project and company management as well as to the client.
Earned Value
- Implementing and maintaining an Earned Value Management System on the project.
- Analyzing cost and schedule performance indicators (CPI and SPI).
- Preparing and maintaining project forecasts and status updates.
- Providing assessments with corrective action recommendations to management.
Other Duties
- Fulfilling project manager requests for changes on new and existing sites.
- Providing guidance, direction, and specialized assistance to others in resolving project control problems.
- Performing other functions associated with this position as appropriate.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience) with typically 3+ years of related work experience.
- Proficient project controls skills including a working knowledge of various Project Controls software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Able to work independently, with basic financial acumen, problem-solving skills, and willingness to work with a diverse team.
- Knowledge of Power BI.
