Job summary

Sullivan Environmental Services Inc in New York, NY is seeking a Project Controller to oversee financial functions for multiple projects. This full-time role reports to the VP of Accounting and requires leading AP, AR, and reporting processes while ensuring policy compliance and accurate forecasting.

Ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Accounting and at least 5 years in construction accounting, with strong Excel skills and experience in financial reporting. Travel to project sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds, bending, pulling and carrying.
• Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).

Responsibilities

• Sets up and manages project AP, AR, financial tracking and reporting.
• Work closely with Project Exec/PM to track and issue change orders and subcontractor back charges.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies and payables processing.
• Manage operational data; maintain data accuracy and integrity.
• Collaborate with Financial Controller to set up internal controls and policies for financial reporting.
• Review financial data monthly for completeness.
• Produce monthly owner draw requests/bills and present them as required.
• Prepare and update monthly project cash flow forecasts.
• Understand and manage job overhead costs (office space, supplies, etc.).
• Analyze and forecast project profitability, revenue, budgets, and margins.
• Follow up with clients on unpaid invoices.
• Travel to project sites as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $200,000.00 To $225,000.00 Annually

The Project Controller works directly with the project teams to oversee the financial functions necessary for profitable completion of the assigned division(s)/project(s). The Project Controller has direct responsibility for all AP, AR, and compliance management processes. Additionally, the Project Controller is responsible for developing and improving systems and processes related to financial reporting, budget tracking, and variance analysis. The Project Controller position will report directly to the VP of Accounting, or their designee, and ensure integration of financial accounting and treasury management practices, as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Sets up and manages project AP, AR, financial tracking and reporting.
• Work closely with the Project Executive and/or Project Manager to ensure accurate and timely tracking and issuing of change orders and subcontractor back charges.
• Ensure compliance with the Company’s financial policies and procedures, including revenue recognition and payables processing.
• Manage operational data and maintaining data accuracy and integrity.
• Work with Financial Controller to set up internal control systems and develop and maintain proper policies for financial reporting.
• Review financial data monthly to ensure completeness of the data.
