Description

As a Project Controller, you'll play a key role in ensuring the financial integrity of high-impact projects. You'll manage project budgets, provide reporting, oversee cost management, and lead financial forecasting. Your understanding of contract requirements will ensure accurate billing and compliance, working closely with project managers, contractors, and the finance team to deliver projects on time and within budget.

In this leadership role, you'll guide and mentor the Project Accountants, overseeing activities like accounting administration, cost reporting, and audits. Your leadership will foster a high-performing team that drives project success and supports career development.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with Builder's Lien Act, holdback requirements, payment processes, contract terms, and project closeouts.
  • Collaborate with project management to complete monthly reviews and deliver accurate cost reports.
  • Prepare and present performance summaries and project progress reports to leadership.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans, ensuring expenditures align with guidelines.
  • Manage cost and profitability reporting, ensuring alignment with KPIs.
  • Guide the team in preparing LEMs, invoices, and progress claims, ensuring adherence to processes.
  • Provide timely financial reports to Project Management & Operations teams.
  • Investigate financial anomalies and inquiries, providing interpretations and resolutions.
Qualifications:
  • At least 6 years of operational accounting experience.
  • Experience supporting industries such as Construction, Telecom, or Manufacturing.
  • A post-secondary business degree is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of contractual, legal, and commercial terms in construction.
  • Familiarity with construction methods and processes.
  • Strong financial skills, including equipment utilization, rates, capital decisions, and profitability analysis.
  • Proficiency in construction accounting principles and software.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail; advanced MS Office skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with construction administration, contract terms, and JD Edwards is a plus.
