Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in project controls, project management, scheduling, cost controls, or construction project delivery.
• Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, or providing technical oversight to Project Controls Analysts or other professionals.
• Experience supporting large-scale capital, infrastructure, utility, construction, or similarly complex projects.
• Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 is required.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills with the ability to develop and motivate team members.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate performance, risks, and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Controls Manager to lead a team of Project Controls Analysts supporting complex capital projects and programs. This role is ideal for a seasoned project controls professional who combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership skills and thrives in fast-paced, complex project environments.

As a key member of our project delivery team, you will provide leadership and oversight across project controls functions while managing and developing a team of Project Controls Analysts. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and senior stakeholders to ensure project teams have the accurate data, reporting, analysis, and visibility necessary to deliver projects safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Project Controls providing day-to-day direction, technical guidance, and performance feedback.
• Oversee project controls activities across multiple workstreams, including design, procurement and construction, ensuring deliverables are accurate, timely, consistent, and aligned with established standards.
• Review and validate project forecasts, reports, cash flow, dashboards, and other team deliverables prior to presentation to project leadership.
• Monitor overall project performance and identify emerging trends, risks, issues, and areas requiring leadership attention.
• Provide recommendations and actionable insights to stakeholders based on project performance data.
• Lead project controls discussions during project reviews, leadership meetings, and executive presentations.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, construction, finance, and client stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful project execution.
• Establish and maintain consistent project controls processes, procedures, reporting standards, and best practices across the team.
• Ensure project controls documentation and reporting comply with applicable requirements and organizational standards.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment focused on accuracy, consistency, and continuous improvement.

Cost Controls & Management

• Lead project cost control activities, including budget development, commitments, expenditures, accruals, forecasting, and cost reporting.
• Establish and maintain cost control processes, procedures, and reporting standards.
• Oversee cost variance analysis, earned value management, trend analysis, and estimate-at-completion forecasting.
• Review and validate project forecasts and financial reports to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with approved budgets.
• Provide senior leadership with clear financial insights, trends, and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
• Oversee schedule development, updates, critical path analysis, milestones, and schedule performance.
• Identify schedule risks, potential delays, and performance trends, and develop proactive mitigation and recovery strategies.
• Review contractor and project schedules for quality, logic, sequencing, resource loading, and compliance with project requirements.
• Lead schedule recovery planning and provide recommendations to project leadership to improve overall project performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Finance, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in project controls, project management, scheduling, cost controls, or construction project delivery.
• Demonstrated experience leading, managing, mentoring, or providing technical oversight to Project Controls Analysts or other project controls professionals.
• Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale capital, infrastructure, utility, construction, or similarly complex projects.
• Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 is required.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, SAP, or similar cost management and reporting tools.
• Experience with Power BI, reporting automation, or business intelligence tools is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of project controls principles, methodologies, processes, and industry best practices.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills with the ability to develop and motivate team members.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, evaluate complex information, and provide actionable recommendations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate project performance, risks, and recommendations to senior and executive stakeholders.
• Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
• Must be able to work on-site in San Bruno, CA five days per week.
