Job summary

MGAC is hiring a Senior Construction Project Manager (Project Controls) in San Francisco, CA. This role requires 4-5 days onsite weekly to support local client projects while overseeing cost, scheduling, risk, and financial reporting.

The candidate will lead project delivery, manage client relationships, and drive budget and schedule success, with travel as needed across regions. Competitive benefits and growth opportunities are offered by MGAC.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in construction project management and project controls across all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Background in commercial interiors/TIs, base building and renovations, healthcare, life sciences, or ground-up vertical construction.
  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Business, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong technical advocacy with a thorough understanding of MEP systems, sitelogistics, and building design/construction processes.
  • Skilled in MS Office, MSProject or Primavera P6 (preferred), e-Builder/Procore or similar platforms, and Bluebeam/PDF tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with ability to evaluate facts and figures from various sources.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects through strategic planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, construction execution, monitoring, and closeout phases.
  • Function as extension of the client's team, owner advocate, and primary contact across consultants, contractors/GCs, and vendors.
  • Manage multi-stakeholder logistics, municipal/agency approvals, and site constraints to ensure schedule adherence.
  • Maintain a keen eye for quality and provide actionable feedback with solutions.
  • Be willing to travel periodically to support off-site kickoffs, client meetings, and active job sites across the regions.

What Youll Be Doing

Project Delivery & Management

  • Function as an extension of the client's team, fierce owner advocate, and primary point of contact across consultants, contractors/GCs, and vendors.
  • Manage multi-stakeholderlogistics, municipal/agency approvals, and site constraints to ensure predictability and schedule adherence.
  • Maintain a keen eye for quality and the ability to provide thoughtful feedback with proposed solutions.
  • Be willing to travel periodically to support off-site project kickoffs, client meetings, and active job sites across the regions ultimately, wego where the work is.

Project Controls & Financial Management

  • Oversee comprehensive project controls, including baseline schedule tracking, cost estimating, cash flow forecasting, and change order evaluation.
  • Ensure open-book transparency on GC buyouts, contracts, exposures, and commitments.
  • Oversee invoice tracking, processing, andtimelyclient billing and collections.
  • Maintain a strong pulse on the Bay Area labor and material escalation to rigorously vet contractor pricing,validatecost estimates, and provide data-driven budget recommendations to the client / stakeholders.

Risk Management & Quality Assurance

  • Lead proactive risk management, contingency tracking, and schedule/budget recovery planning.
  • Identifyproject risks early, check egos at the door, and implement actionable mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure proper project documentation, quality assurance controls, and client reporting standards across all lifecycle stages.

Salary Range

$150,000 - $185,000 per year (commensurate with experience)

The advertised salary range is intended as a general guideline and may vary based on factors such as experience, expertise, and location. This base salary does not reflect the full compensation package, which may include bonuses, 401(k) matching up to 8%, and other benefits.
