Senior Project Controls Specialist | Allied Resources Technical Consultants
About the Position:
Allied Resources is seeking a Senior Project Controls Specialist to support large-scale utility, energy, industrial, and heavy construction projects. This role requires advanced expertise in Primavera P6 scheduling, project controls, forecasting, and cost management. The ideal candidate will have experience managing both project schedules and financial performance while partnering closely with project managers and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution. Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and update project schedules using Primavera P6 to support project planning and execution.
- Establish project baselines, milestones, critical path activities, and reporting requirements in collaboration with project teams.
- Perform schedule analysis, identify potential risks and delays, and recommend corrective actions to improve project performance.
- Support project managers through governance and stage-gate approval processes by providing scheduling and forecasting analysis.
- Conduct schedule variance analysis and report deviations from approved baselines.
- Generate schedule performance reports, dashboards, and analytics that communicate project status, trends, and risks.
- Monitor project costs, forecasts, budgets, and resource utilization throughout the project lifecycle.
- Update financial forecasts for engineering, procurement, construction, and contracted services.
- Review and process invoices, change orders, and project expenditures while ensuring alignment with approved budgets.
- Support contract administration activities and verify that project costs align with purchase order and contractual requirements.
- Prepare funding requests, budget adjustments, and forecast updates for management review and approval.
- Manage monthly accrual processes and maintain accurate cost reporting for work completed but not yet invoiced.
- Assist project teams in identifying and resolving scheduling, forecasting, and cost-related challenges.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of project controls processes, reporting standards, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in project controls, scheduling, cost controls, project planning, or a related discipline.
- Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 scheduling software.
- Experience supporting utility, energy, oil & gas, industrial, infrastructure, or heavy construction projects.
- Strong background in cost management, forecasting, budget tracking, financial reporting, and project controls.
- Knowledge of project management principles, scheduling methodologies, earned value concepts, and project lifecycle management.
- Experience performing schedule variance analysis, critical path analysis, and risk identification.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel reporting and data analysis capabilities.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple project teams.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
