Job summary

Williams Companies is seeking a Project Controls Analyst in Houston, TX. You will support major energy projects from development through closeout, establishing cost analyses, schedules and forecasts with the PM and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include reports, change orders, risk analysis and mentoring colleagues. The role emphasizes collaboration with Finance, Engineering and Construction to ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction or business with six years of project controls experience.
  • Master’s degree in engineering, construction or business with eight years of related experience is preferred.
  • Proficient with Primavera and Oracle Projects; strong Excel and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains cost analyses, forecasts and schedules for major/mega expansions and projects.
  • Prepares progress reports and analyzes change orders with project managers.
  • Collaborates across Project Management, Commercial, Engineering, Land, Permitting, Construction, Operations, Finance and Leadership.
  • Supports risk analyses and change control through project lifecycle.
  • Mentors and trains others as needed.

Day in the Life - Project Controls Analyst

Project Controls Analysts support projects from commercial development through closeout. They work with the business development & project execution team members to establish:



  • Primavera project schedules and timelines

  • Estimates, budgets, and cost risk assessments

  • Monthly expenditure forecasts and management reporting


In addition, they have a hand in preparing progress reports, and construction bid package analyses while working alongside the Project Managers on change orders and project change requests.


Successful Project Controls Analysts efficiently collaborate and interact daily with Project Management, Commercial, Engineering, Land, Permitting, Construction, Operations, Finance, and Leadership.


Responsibilities/Expectations:


  • Collaborates with others to create, monitor and maintain cost analyses, financial forecasts and schedules for major and mega expansions and projects

  • Performs applicable analyses to drive additional understanding of project status through the life cycle

  • Prepares and communicates project-related reports to business partners and leaders

  • Supports the Project Change Request process and Project Risk Analysis, including schedule and cost

  • Engages in ad hoc analyses and reporting

  • May step in for project manager to provide leader updates

  • Mentors and trains others

  • Other duties as assigned


Education/Years of Experience:


  • Required: High school diploma/GED with equivalent experience or bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction or business and minimum six (6) years’ project, project controls, engineering or related experience

  • Preferred: Master’s degree in engineering, construction or business and minimum eight (8) years’ project, project controls, engineering or related experience


Other Requirements:


  • Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications

  • Proficiency of Project Life Cycle

  • Expertise with project-related software systems (ex. Primavera, Oracle Projects) and ability to train others

  • Preferred: PMP Certification, PMI-SP Certification or AACE Certification
