JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The Capital Projects Analyst performs cost analysis, budgets and forecasts related to New Generation projects in all stages of development or execution. Creates and maintains financial and business models. Compiles performance information related to monthly project cost for inclusion in reports. Provides analytical expertise to support project and portfolio management.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Builds and maintains cost models and performs scenario analysis for assigned projects.
  • Prepares cash flow estimates in support of monthly present estimate (PE) process.
  • Analyzes cost and schedule impacts of project scope changes and trends. Prepares and delivers presentations of numerical analysis.
  • Interfaces with internal and external project teams as necessary for cost control monitoring, analysis, and reporting. Provides day-to-day detailed monitoring and analysis of project budgets and actuals. Updates and maintains project budgets and cost information. Provides accurate financial, cost reporting, trending analysis and recommends corrective actions.
  • Provides Cost Management support through identification of gaps and opportunities. Recommends development or modification of cost engineering data standards.
  • Tracks & trends monthly spend to develop a view on earned value and provide predictability when assessing the project forecast.
  • Actively performs Forensics Analysis on all aspects of project spend and forecast to assure budget adherence.
  • Utilizes COGNOS, POWER BI, Maximo, and Power Plan to perform analyses, interpret the output and develop presentations from the data set (where applicable).
  • Demonstrates very good documentation, technical writing, and organization skills to effectively control document availability and readiness for ROD requirements, prudency review, deposition hearings, filing for PSC, Change Order Process and or other legal requirements.
  • Demonstrates commitment to safety through active participation in safety meetings, safety inspections and field observations where applicable.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education Required for the Position

  • B.S. in Finance, Accounting, Project Management, Construction Management or applicable course of study or equivalent work experience.
  • Desired: MBA or other advanced degree.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position.

  • Capital Project development and execution cost analysis experience with an owner or contractor.
  • Understanding of commercial agreements and contracting strategies.
  • Analytical skill set with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in Cognos, Power BI, Maximo and Power Plan.
  • Understanding of project schedule impact on cost forecasting and integration of schedule in cost.
  • Knowledge of Entergy financial and accounting systems and processes.
  • Working knowledge of the regulatory agencies for which the projects will be governed.
  • Understanding of cost, schedule, and risk alignment.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required of the position.

  • Desired – AACEI Certified Cost Technician, AACEI Certified Cost Professional.
