Project Control Analyst - Junior/Mid-Level

Salary Range is: $70K-$105K
Junior: 1-2 years, basic MS Project experience: $70,000-$80,000
Developing: 2-4 years, can maintain a schedule independently: $80,000-$90,000
Strong mid-level: 4-7 years, can build and analyze integrated schedules: $90,000-$105,000

Position Summary

We are seeking a junior- to mid-level Project Control Analyst to support the planning and execution of complex engineering programs. This position will work closely with program managers, engineering leads, technical teams, and business operations personnel to develop, maintain, and analyze integrated program schedules.
The ideal candidate is proficient with Microsoft Project, understands traditional waterfall scheduling principles, and is familiar with Agile development methodologies. A background supporting engineering, defense, aerospace, hardware, or software development programs is preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and update integrated project schedules using Microsoft Project.
  • Work with program managers and technical leads to translate program scope, deliverables, and technical activities into executable schedules.
  • Build logically linked schedules that identify dependencies, constraints, milestones, critical paths, and driving paths.
  • Incorporate activities for engineering design, hardware development, software development, integration, qualification testing, delivery, and customer reviews.
  • Support both traditional waterfall execution and hybrid Agile/waterfall program environments.
  • Incorporate Agile releases, increments, sprints, and product backlogs into the broader integrated program schedule.
  • Facilitate schedule-development and status-update meetings with activity owners.
  • Collect schedule status, evaluate progress, and maintain accurate actual and forecast dates.
  • Identify schedule conflicts, missed dependencies, emerging risks, and potential impacts to key milestones.
  • Perform schedule analysis, including critical-path analysis, schedule health assessments, milestone trend analysis, and what-if scenarios.
  • Assist program leadership in developing schedule recovery plans and evaluating alternative execution strategies.
  • Coordinate schedule inputs from subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and other external stakeholders.
  • Prepare schedule data and summary information for internal program reviews, customer meetings, and leadership briefings.
  • Support the development and maintenance of schedule-related processes, procedures, and reporting standards.
  • Ensure schedules are consistent with the program work breakdown structure, contractual requirements, and technical execution plan.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Approximately 2-7 years of experience in project scheduling, project controls, program management, engineering, or a related field.
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Project, including:
    • Schedule development and maintenance
    • Activity sequencing and dependency logic
    • Calendars, constraints, and milestones
    • Baselines and progress tracking
    • Critical-path analysis
    • Resource loading and schedule reporting
  • Understanding of waterfall project planning and schedule-development practices.
  • Familiarity with Agile development concepts, including sprints, backlogs, releases, increments, and iterative delivery.
  • Ability to work directly with engineering and technical personnel to develop realistic activity durations, sequencing, and dependencies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced program environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any security clearance required for assigned programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree or professional experience in engineering, engineering management, program management, business, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, government contracting, or other complex engineering-development programs.
  • Experience scheduling integrated hardware and software development efforts.
  • Experience supporting system integration, verification, qualification testing, or production activities.
  • Familiarity with rolling-wave planning and hybrid Agile/waterfall execution models.
  • Experience working with integrated master schedules or cross-functional program schedules.
  • Familiarity with schedule performance metrics, earned value concepts, or project performance reporting.
  • Experience integrating subcontractor or supplier schedules into a program-level schedule.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Power BI, or similar program-management and reporting platforms.
