Job summary

MTA Construction & Development (C&D) plans, designs, rehabilitates, improves, and expands the MTA’s infrastructure. This role places you within the Delivery Department to ensure on-scope, on-time, and on-budget capital construction projects across multiple agencies.

You will support project management activities, coordinate with stakeholders, and may participate in site visits to active construction sites. Location varies by agency needs and includes some telework options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction or Project Management, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field.
• Minimum of 18 months of work-related experience.
• Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to interact with multiple stakeholders.
• Must work well independently and in a team.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direction of a manager, Construction Manager, or Project Manager.
• Perform project/construction management work in scope development, design, RFP development, or capital construction oversight/inspection.
• Coordinators may perform related support functions for capital projects, such as project controls or various technical processes.
• The Project/Construction Manager Coordinator will receive training in construction, project management, and/or capital project support work of moderate difficulty.
• Participate in site visits and fieldwork at facilities and infrastructure of MTA operating agencies, including active construction sites.
• Manage and contribute to a variety of challenging projects.
• Incumbents may work various shifts/days to participate in all aspects of the organization.
• Apply academic learning in project/construction management, critical thinking, and analysis principles.
• Perform other duties as required.

Summary

MTA Construction & Development (C&D) plans, designs, rehabilitates, improves, and expands the MTA’s extensive network of subway, bus, commuter rail, bridge, and tunnel infrastructure.

We maximize the value of our capital investments by emphasizing top-tier project-management practices and collaboration with our client operating agencies: New York City Transit, MTA Bus, Long Island Railroad, Metro-North Railroad, and Bridges & Tunnels.

Applicants will be offered placement in one of the above agencies, and the locations vary based on the agency’s business needs.

The C&D Delivery Department ensures the efficient, safe, on-scope, on-time, and on-budget execution of capital construction projects, emphasizing excellence in project management from project development and design through construction and handover to the operating agencies.

Delivery manages project teams and contractors (typically in a Design-Build contracting structure), tracks project performance, and provides related support services.

Responsibilities

The Project/Construction Manager Coordinator shall work under the direction of a manager, Construction Manager, or Project Manager.

Perform project/construction management work in scope development, design, request for contract development proposals, or capital construction oversight and/or inspection.

Coordinators may perform related support functions for capital projects, such as project controls or various technical processes.

The Project/Construction Manager Coordinator 1 will also receive additional training in construction, project management, and/or capital project support work of moderate difficulty and responsibility.

Participate in site visits and fieldwork at various facilities and infrastructure of the MTA operating agencies, including active construction sites.

Manage and contribute to a variety of challenging projects.

Depending upon assignment, incumbents may work various shifts/days to participate in all aspects of the organization.

Apply academic learning in project/construction management, critical thinking, and analysis principles.

Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Construction or Project Management, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field.

Minimum of (18) eighteen months of work-related experience.

Basic understanding of project/construction management principles.

Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.

Possess quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail.

Ability to interact with multiple stakeholders.

Must have the ability to work both independently and within a team effectively.

Must be willing to adhere to the agency’s policies, rules, and regulations.

Proficient in MS Office Suite and/or other comparable PC applications.
