Job summary

Hargrove and Associates, Inc is seeking a seasoned procurement professional to manage project procurement activities in our heavy industrial projects portfolio. The role involves developing bid packages, issuing RFQs, evaluating proposals, and awarding purchase orders on a variety of projects.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in supply chain management, strong contract knowledge, and experience negotiating terms with suppliers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Supply Chain Management, specifically in Project Procurement.
• Knowledge of contract language and commercial terms; understanding of UCC.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Develop bid packages and RFQs; evaluate commercial proposals and award purchase orders.
• Expedite vendor data and equipment to support projects under general supervision.
• Interpret project scopes, statements of work and project schedules.
• Develop procurement plans for goods and services across projects.
• Mentor less experienced Procurement Teammates.
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers; negotiate contract terms with suppliers.

Job description

What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: Generally responsible for developing bid packages, submitting Request for Quote (RFQ), evaluating commercial proposals, and awarding purchase orders. Responsibilities could also include expediting of vendor data and equipment in support of various projects. This work will be performed under general supervision.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to

• Familiarity with and utilization of department standards.
• Familiarity with the execution of heavy industrial projects including chemical, refining, pulp and paper, power, and manufacturing.
• Interpreting project scopes, statements of work and project schedules.
• Developing procurement plans for the acquisition of goods and services in support of various projects.
• Mentoring less experienced Procurement Teammates.
• Familiarity with piping systems, valves, and fittings is preferred.
• Building and maintaining effective relationships with suppliers.

Ideal Background Education

High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor or Master of Science degree in related field from an accredited university is preferred.

Registration

Certification is not required for this position.

Experience

This position requires at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in Supply Chain Management, specifically in Project Procurement.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge and application of company standards
• Ability to organize effectively and execute contracts.
• Ability to learn and understand contract language and commercial terms and conditions.
• Understanding of contract law and the UCC.
• Extreme attention to detail
• Ability to learn to effectively negotiate contract conditions with suppliers and/or contractors.
• Working knowledge of International Commercial Terms (INCOTERMS).
• Complete knowledge and understanding of payment terms.
• Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficient in the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. SAP ERP is preferred.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Self starter with high degree of accountability and initiative.
• Demonstrates sound judgment in determining when issues require expedited action or escalation.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry in excess of 25 lbs.
• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time
