Flatiron Construction Corp in Morgan Hill, CA is seeking a results-driven Business Manager to lead accounting and financial administration for our projects.

You will prepare monthly/quarterly/annual reports, assist with budgets and cost controls, and ensure internal controls and accurate financial statements. Strong analytical and leadership skills are essential for success in our dynamic construction environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of finance experience or training in the construction industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to present findings.
  • Proven management skills and ability to delegate tasks clearly.
  • Understanding of construction industry and project accounting; sales/use tax knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports including year-end and audits.
  • Provides financial analysis and interprets data to support management decisions.
  • Reconciles subordinate ledgers with the general ledger.
  • Assists with budgets, cost controls, and cost allocations to departments or projects.
  • Maintains documentation supporting accuracy and integrity of financial statements.
  • Ensures adherence to financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Manages accounts payable/receivable and related payments and records.
  • Handles company accounts, check preparations, and signatures.
  • Assists in managing project and district asset inventories and payroll.

Are you a detail-oriented leader with strong analytical skills? A Business Manager, you will manage the accounting and financial administrative activities of our projects. Your expertise will ensure the smooth operation and success of our projects.

What you will be doing
  • Manages the preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual financial reports, together with the yearend, audit schedules, cost reports and reconciliations and management reports.
  • Provides financial analysis and interprets financial data and statements in order to make recommendations to management.
  • Assures that subordinate ledgers reconcile with the general ledger in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assists with updating budgets and cost controls including cost allocations to departments or project segments.
  • Provides documentation supporting the accuracy and integrity of financial statements.
  • Ensures adherence to financial policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Manages the accounts payable and accounts receivable along with the associated payment and collection efforts and detailed records.
  • Manages the company accounts, check preparations and obtaining authorized signatures.
  • Assists in managing project and/or District asset inventories and District payroll.
What we are looking for
  • 5+ years finance experience or training in the construction industry required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in finance or accounting preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Management skills required. Ability to delegate tasks appropriately and clearly communicate expectations with staff.
  • General understanding of construction industry and project accounting.
  • Understands state and local requirements concerning sales/use tax.
