Prairie Engineers, P.C. in Illinois seeks an organized accounting professional to join our on-site team supporting project managers with client invoicing and project accounting.

You'll prepare invoices, review charges, monitor receivables, and back up payroll and AP while helping improve billing processes and accuracy. Experience in Deltek Ajera and Excel is a plus; relevant accounting experience matters most.

Qualifications

• Experience in project billing or accounting in architecture, engineering, or professional-services firms.
• Deltek Ajera experience is a big plus.
• Experience with project-based accounting systems and payroll is helpful.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Experience with government or DOT client billing is desirable.
• Accounting or related education is helpful, but relevant experience is more important.

Responsabilités

• Work closely with Project Managers throughout the monthly billing process.
• Prepare draft and final client invoices with required backup and documentation.
• Review project charges, billing rates, contract limits, subconsultant costs for accuracy.
• Help PMs identify and resolve billing issues, unbilled items, and other questions.
• Submit invoices through client systems and maintain organized billing records.
• Assist with project setup and maintenance of billing terms, rates, budgets, and contract information.
• Help monitor outstanding receivables and coordinate client follow-up.
• Provide backup for payroll, accounts payable, and other Accounting team responsibilities.
• Look for practical ways to make our billing and accounting processes easier, faster, and more accurate.
