ABOUT THE ROLE

The successful candidate will serve as a high-level specialist and Project Architect, leading all technical development and content for a healthcare facility exceeding 2.0 million square feet at Mayo Clinic’s Rochester campus. This role involves coordinating with all disciplines to ensure integrated deliverables and verifying compliance through team collaboration.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Manage the critical path process, guiding the project team through technical and production phases from pre-design to completion.
  2. Engage regularly with the Office or Project Quality Leader for support and quality assurance.
  3. Develop and integrate all technical aspects of the project into our instruments of service.
  4. Collaborate with the Project Manager to establish realistic work plans, schedules, and budgets that meet contractual and financial goals.
  5. Participate in and contribute to the Project Risk Assessment process, proactively addressing issues.
  6. Assist Project Architects in developing and updating Project Quality Plans, managing project quality, milestones, and technical reviews.
  7. Oversee documentation strategies for all phases, ensuring deliverables meet standards.
  8. Work with the Design Lead to align design goals with client expectations, budget, and schedule.
  9. Translate design intent through technical documentation during construction phases.
  10. Integrate sustainable design and building performance goals into the project.
  11. Monitor documentation and compliance with contractual obligations.
  12. Guide Life Safety, Building, and Energy Code analyses for compliance.
  13. Coordinate disciplines to maintain architectural design integrity.
  14. Collaborate with the Model Manager to ensure quality in modeling processes and content.
  15. Align contract documentation, verifying content with the Project Specification Writer.
  16. Lead construction administration activities, including RFIs and submittals.
  17. Supervise and mentor project team members, focusing on technical quality and standards.
  18. Achieve utilization targets and support office quality initiatives.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience, including 5 years in construction documentation on institutional or commercial projects and 3 years in construction administration.
  • Experience with large, complex projects.
  • Current Architectural Registration in the U.S. required.
  • Preferred: CDT and LEED accreditation.
  • Strong focus on quality, knowledge of building codes, and business acumen.
  • Leadership skills, including mentoring less experienced staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and construction management software.
  • Professional business attire for client meetings.
  • Willingness to travel.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The salary range for this position in Chicago is $108,958 to $163,488 annually, with potential bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package including health coverage, flexible spending, paid time off, remote options, 401k, and employee perks. Actual pay may vary based on location, experience, and skills.
