Job summary

SmithGroup in Dallas seeks a Project Architect to join our healthcare team. You will lead a team of architects to complete complex health-project documents, coordinate construction packages, and oversee construction administration while mentoring junior staff and building client relationships.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in architecture, 10+ years of healthcare project experience, LEED AP preferred, and architectural registration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional healthcare project experience.
  • Architectural Registration required; LEED AP preferred.
  • Ability to engage with multi-disciplinary teams and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of architects to complete technical documents for Health projects of complex nature.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and complete construction documents packages.
  • Lead day-to-day construction administration activities with contractors, owners, and consultants.
  • Mentor, oversee, and monitor work of junior staff.
  • Establish and execute project work plans and staffing.
  • Develop trusted client relationships.
  • Participate in recruiting and performance management of staff.
  • Meet with owners and user groups to determine program and planning requirements.

The Dallas office of SmithGroup is looking for a Project Architect to join our healthcare team.

Working with us, you will:
  • Lead a team of architects to complete technical documents for Health projects of complex nature.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and complete construction documents packages.
  • Lead day-to-day construction administration activities including coordination with the contractor, owner, and consultants to maintain project progress.
  • Mentor, provide oversight, and monitor the work performed by junior staff.
  • Establish and execute project work plan and staffing requirements.
  • Develop trusted relationships with clients.
  • Participate in recruiting and performance management of staff.
  • Meet with owners and user groups to determine program and planning requirements.
An ideal candidate has:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Architecture or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience with medium to large-sized healthcare projects.
  • LEED AP preferred. Architectural Registration required.
  • Working knowledge of engineering systems; can successfully engage with professionals in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with clients and build client relationships and trust.
  • Strong mentoring, written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • High proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Experience with wood framed construction is preferred.
  • Experience leading other architects and project teams.
  • Demonstrated understanding of code implementation and jurisdiction review.
  • Demonstrated understanding of construction practices and methodologies.
