Job summary

RWE Design Build in Downers Grove, IL, seeks a mid-level Project Architect to shape and execute design solutions for commercial projects, with a focus on veterinary, medical, and dental offices.

You will develop concepts, produce drawings, manage space planning, collaborate with engineers and clients, and ensure code compliance from concept through construction. This role offers a collaborative team environment and opportunities to lead projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
• Proven experience in architectural design, with a portfolio showcasing a range of projects.
• Proficiency in architectural design software Revit and Bluebeam.
• Strong creative and analytical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• 6+ years of proven experience in commercial architectural design, with a portfolio showcasing a range of projects.
• Familiarity with sustainable design principles and green building practices.
• Knowledge of current trends and advancements in architecture.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Experience with veterinarian design a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

• Develop initial design concepts based on client requirements, budget, and site conditions.
• Create sketches, renderings, and 3D models to communicate design ideas visually.
• Analyze and plan building layouts for optimal functionality, accessibility, and efficiency.
• Produce detailed technical drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details.
• Specify materials, finishes, and color schemes aligned with the design intent and project requirements.
• Collaborate with clients to understand vision, expectations, and functional requirements.
• Present design proposals, gather feedback, and refine concepts to meet project goals.
• Ensure all designs comply with local building codes, zoning laws, and permitting requirements.
• Assist in obtaining necessary approvals for proposed designs.
• Oversee the execution of design intent during the construction phase.
• Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and consultants to resolve design-related challenges.
• Conduct site visits and assessments to understand environmental and contextual factors.
