Job description

Boulder Associates is seeking a full-time Healthcare Project Architect II to be part of a dynamic Sacramento team and contribute to meaningful healthcare design. This role is ideal for a licensed architect with strong healthcare project experience who can lead design and documentation efforts across all phases, from programming through construction administration.

Top candidates will bring higher-level project experience, strong technical judgment, healthcare design exposure, and the ability to lead project documentation while mentoring junior teammates in a collaborative professional office environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop design direction and technical expertise to successfully complete healthcare project requirements for scope, schedule, budget, specifications, materials, equipment, estimated costs, and completion times.
  • Coordinate design work with internal teams, consultants, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies, including HCAI/OSHPD as applicable.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead healthcare projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of California, NFPA, healthcare, and accessibility codes and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with clients, user groups, consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Develop and lead Revit project documentation through all phases of design and construction administration.
  • Help lead and mentor junior level teammates.
  • Perform construction administration duties, including submittal reviews, RFIs, site observations, and coordination with project teams.
Required Experience:
  • Licensed Architect with 6+ years of professional experience in architecture.
  • Healthcare project experience is required.
  • Portfolio of work that demonstrates excellence in design thinking and technical execution.
  • Experience leading projects and mentoring junior staff.
  • High Revit and Bluebeam proficiency.
  • Experience with design management and juggling multiple projects.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate issues and concerns to stakeholders, vendors, and team members.
  • Self-motivated and able to problem-solve independently.
Strongly Preferred Experience:
  • HCAI/OSHPD experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in Design-Bid-Build, IFOA and Design-Build settings.
  • Experience in applying Lean or Agile principles to design and construction.
  • LEED accreditation, EDAC certification.
  • Commitment to promoting sustainable business practices.
