Job summary

Pope Design Group seeks a Project Architect or Job Captain to lead documentation and coordination on industrial, civic and education projects. You will work with project managers and design teams to develop concepts into high-quality construction documents.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to deliver across SD-CA phases using Revit, Bluebeam and MS Office, within a flexible hybrid environment that supports remote work two days per week.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in the industry.
  • Experience leading project documentation and coordination.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with healthcare, civic and education projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Produce drawings through all project phases (SD-CA).
  • Coordinate drawings with specifications and consultants.
  • Provide technical oversight for project teams and make decisions.
  • Coordinate project documentation with clients, consultants and contractors.
  • Review codes, ensure constructability and QA/QC implementation.
  • Participate in construction administration duties (RFI, submittals, pay apps).

Introduction:

Pope Design Group is seeking a passionate, ambitious and thoughtful Project Architect or Job Captain that seeks to make a positive and impactful difference in our community through the spaces we create. In this position you will be working closely with the Project Manager and an integrated team of design professionals developing design concepts into high-quality documents for our clients. Market Sectors: Industrial, Civic, and/or Education

This position will provide an opportunity to collaborate with integrated design teams on industrial, civic and/or education-related projects of various sizes and complexities.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Work on a variety of project types, including tenant improvements, new construction, and renovations of existing buildings.
  • Drawing production work through all project phases.
  • Coordinate drawings with specifications prepared by other team members.
  • Consultant coordination, including M/E/P, structural, furniture and AV.
  • Provide technical oversight for project team and make independent decisions for projects and project teams.
  • Coordinate project documentation with clients, consultants, contractors, and project team.
  • Review and implement building codes, ensure code compliance and constructability.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC team and implement recommendations.
  • Participate in all aspects of construction administration duties including site visits, shop drawing reviews, RFI's, change orders, review pay applications, etc.
  • Receive project direction from the Project Manager and Designer, may lead some projects.
Client Interface:

The project team works together on developing a positive relationship of trust with our clients and fostering a commitment to external and internal client service. Your role includes the following:

  • May regularly communicate with clients to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews and delivery of final presentation.
  • May work with Project Manager, Designer and client to confirm objectives and formulate options.
  • May prepare and conduct design and technical presentations for team and/or clients.
  • May participate in marketing efforts.
Your Skills, Experience and Competencies:
  • You have a minimum of 7+ years of experience in the industry, with experience leading project documentation and coordination. Licensure preferred but not necessary.
  • While you may work on a variety of project types, our need is for a Project Architect or Job Captain with experience in healthcare, civic and education projects.
  • You have experience in all phases of architectural design (SD-CA) and the ability to coordinate all aspects of assigned projects.
  • You provide attention to detail, good organizational skills, excellent follow-through skills, can juggle multiple tasks and multiple priorities as well as consistently meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in the use of Revit, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite.
Salary & Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000 annually. Salary may be impacted by candidates years of experience, specific market sector experience, licensure and/or potential involvement in business development. Full-time individuals in this role are eligible to participate in our benefit programs which include bonuses, profit sharing, 401K contributions, paid holidays, paid time off, continuing education, paid licensure & professional memberships as well as medical, dental, vision, FSA including Medical and Dependent Care, life and short/long term disability programs.
