Job summary

Pope Design Group in Duluth, MN is seeking a Project Architect or Job Captain with 7+ years of experience to lead project documentation and coordination. You will work with a cross-disciplinary team to develop design concepts into high-quality documents for clients across healthcare, civic, and education sectors.

The role requires proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office, with licensure preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a variety of project types, including tenant improvements, new construction, and renovations of existing buildings.
  • Drawing production work through all project phases.
  • Coordinate drawings with specifications prepared by other team members.
  • Consultant coordination, including M/E/P, structural, furniture and AV.
  • Provide technical oversight for project team and make independent decisions for projects and project teams.
  • Coordinate project documentation with clients, consultants, contractors, and project team.
  • Review and implement building codes, ensure code compliance and constructability.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC team and implement recommendations.
  • Participate in all aspects of construction administration duties including site visits, shop drawing reviews, RFI’s, change orders, review pay applications, etc.
  • Receive project direction from the Project Manager and Designer, may lead some projects.

Salary & Benefits: The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000 annually. Salary may be impacted by candidates years of experience, specific market sector experience, licensure and/or potential involvement in business development. The project team works together on developing a positive relationship of trust with our clients and fostering a commitment to external and internal client service.

Your Role Includes The Following
  • May regularly communicate with clients to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews and delivery of final presentation.
  • May work with Project Manager, Designer and client to confirm objectives and formulate options.
  • May prepare and conduct design and technical presentations for team and/or clients.
  • May participate in marketing efforts.
Your Skills, Experience And Competencies
  • You have a minimum of 7+ years of experience in the industry, with experience leading project documentation and coordination. Licensure preferred but not necessary.
  • While you may work on a variety of project types, our need is for a Project Architect or Job Captain with experience in healthcare, civic and education projects.
  • You have experience in all phases of architectural design (SD-CA) and the ability to coordinate all aspects of assigned projects.
  • You provide attention to detail, good organizational skills, excellent follow-through skills, can juggle multiple tasks and multiple priorities as well as consistently meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in the use of Revit, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite.
