Job summary

WSP is seeking a Project Archaeologist for our Northwest Arkansas office to lead heritage and cultural resource projects, direct field teams, and collaborate with clients, tribal monitors, and regulatory agencies. The role emphasizes QA/QC, technical writing, and ongoing alignment with state and federal guidelines.

Ideal candidates bring a Master’s in Archaeology or related field and 3–5 years of post-education experience in CRM archaeology, with strong communication and leadership abilities for

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Historic Preservation, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of post-education experience in Section 106/110 compliance or CRM archaeology, preferably Arkansas/southeast.
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory framework for heritage resource management compliance.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead heritage and cultural resource projects.
  • Direct field teams on archaeological surveys and excavations.
  • Assist with development and scoping of medium-sized projects.
  • Interact with clients, landowners, contractors, and others.
  • Work with tribal monitors and representatives.
  • Help clients comply with state and federal regulations.
  • Prepare and assist with completing cultural resources reports, data entry, impact assessment, and permitting activities for assigned projects.
  • Perform professional archaeological work, investigations, inspections, studies, and surveys.
