Job summary

Aventia in Madison, NJ is seeking a highly motivated Project Accountant to evaluate project profitability and manage costs and revenue across projects. You will ensure accurate P&L calculations and communicate financial performance to project management.

Responsibilities include budgeting, invoicing, variance analysis, and preparing financial reports. Strong Excel skills and experience with Deltek Vantagepoint are preferred, along with 5+ years in project accounting and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field
• 5+ years of project accounting or related financial experience
• Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint preferred
• Proficiency in MS Excel, including pivot tables and formulas
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines in a dynamic project environment

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze project financial data, including revenue, expenses, and profitability
• Identify trends, cost overruns, and financial risks to provide early insights to project managers
• Generate financial reports and dashboards to provide the project team with a clear understanding of project financial performance
• Prepare regular financial summaries and variance analyses
• Partner with the project manager and project team to establish the project budget and update budgets as needed
• Prepare and submit accurate invoices to clients based on milestones and contracts
• Verify contract and change order characteristics for moderately complex projects
• Maintain effective communication with clients regarding billing and financial inquiries
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records and supporting documentation
• Attend project meetings to inform the team of status and follow up on actions
• Stay updated on best practices in project accounting and suggest improvements
