Job summary

Fairway Construction, Inc. is seeking a Project Accountant in Construction to handle all project accounting for our builds in the Buckhead area. The role emphasizes accuracy in records, change orders, and proactive cost control for multiple projects.

You will process invoices, approve overheads, review variances, and prepare billings while collaborating with operations and management to maximize billings and on-time completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent required.
• Minimum five years in accounting; at least two years in construction accounting.
• Experience with project cost accounting and pay applications.
• Proficiency in Sage Intacct and Procore Pay; MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Manage all construction project accounting functions.
• Maintain project records, change orders, and monitor deficiencies.
• Process supplier invoices for projects and approve overhead charges.
• Review project assets and expenses, investigate variances.
• Prepare billings to customers and coordinate with Ops on unpaid invoices.
• Support auditors with project information and improve internal controls.
• Close out accounts when projects finish.

Title - Project Accountant in Construction

Location - Atlanta, GA (Buckhead area)

Schedule - 3 days in office hybrid

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for all construction project accounting functions.
• Maintain project related records and change orders and be proactive on any deficiencies.
• Review, enter, and approve supplier invoices related to a project.
• Understand, review, and approve overhead charges to be applied to a project.
• Review account totals related to project assets and expenses.
• Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management.
• Create or approve all project-related billings to customers.
• Confer with Ops team regarding unpaid contract billings.
• Confer with management on any opportunities for additional billings.
• Respond to requests for more details from customers.
• Close out project accounts upon project completion.
• Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required.
• Assess and improve internal processes and controls as appropriate.
• Other assignments as directed by management.

EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent.
• Minimum of five years' work experience in an accounting environment and two years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
