Responsibilities

• Responsible for all construction project accounting functions.
• Maintain project records and change orders, and proactively address deficiencies.

• Review overhead charges to be applied to a project.
• Review project asset and expense totals.
• Investigate variances and report findings to management.
• Create or approve all project billings to customers.
• Coordinate with Ops on unpaid contract billings and opportunities for additional billings.
• Respond to requests for more details from customers.
• Close out project accounts upon completion.
• Prepare information for auditors and improve internal processes and controls.

Title - Project Accountant in Construction

Location - Atlanta, GA (Buckhead area)

Schedule - 3 days in office hybrid

Throughout the years, Fairway Construction's expertise has grown from building affordable multi-family housing communities to include the construction of skilled nursing care centers, market-rate apartment communities, residential lofts, the rehabilitation of historic properties and conventional senior memory care facilities. Due to our reputation for consistently completing quality developments on time and within budget, FWC has expanded to add third-party construction developments and provides project management and consulting services for numerous developers. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS

• Maintain project related records and change orders and be proactive on any deficiencies.
• Review, enter, and approve supplier invoices related to a project.
• Understand, review, and approve overhead charges to be applied to a project.
• Review account totals related to project assets and expenses.
• Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management.
• Create or approve all project-related billings to customers.
• Confer with Ops team regarding unpaid contract billings.
• Confer with management on any opportunities for additional billings.
• Respond to requests for more details from customers.
• Close out project accounts upon project completion.
• Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required.
• Assess and improve internal processes and controls as appropriate.
• Other assignments as directed by management.

EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent.
• Minimum of five years' work experience in an accounting environment and two years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
